Who We Are
A literary-cultural journal interested in high-quality poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. We are convinced that communities thrive when built on dialogue that honors the difference between any two interlocutors. A place of amalgamation and unplumbed depths, where unimagined futures are born.
We are always open for your love.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR… AND NOT
We want work that feels as if it has far more purpose than a writer wanting to write a story.
We suggest to all who plan to submit that they read our most recent issues to acquaint themselves with material the magazine has published. Subscriptions are available in our shop.
As a writer, you might find that response a little grating. Who has time to read every single literary magazine? There are so many of them! Naturally, because we are biased in our own favor, we do believe you should subscribe to ours because it is the best.
Stories must be well-written.
WE DON’T WANT
Your trunk stories. Talking cats.
Payment
Contributors receive two copies of the issue in which their work appears.
Submissions
SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSION: No. Just…no.
(We do our best to offer a quick turnaround time, so please allow us the privilege of sole consideration during that relatively brief period. We aim to respond to submissions within eight months.)
MULTIPLE SUBMISSION: Also no.
MANUSCRIPT FORMAT: Do we have to tell you to use standard manuscript format? Really? Double spaced? Bold and italics in bold and italics?
If you don’t hear back within a month three months, then it may have been lost en route. Do not email us to follow up on your submission.
Our reading fee is $5. We also ask that you consider leaving a tip of $3 to help us pay contributing writers.
In January I wrote a found poem about literary agents. If you liked this, you can find that one here.
